Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a 4-wheel drive car to get to the cabin?

No you don't. The roads are paved in places, otherwise the road is gravel and can get potholes after heavy rain.

Do I need to bring any towels or sheets?

No - there will be enough for each guest in the cabin, along with a travel size bar of soap for each guest.

Are there antique stores in the area?

Yes! There's a lot. Most are in Ellijay and a couple in downtown Blue Ridge. Also Black Bear Antiques on Hwy 515.  You will pass some if you're driving North from Atlanta on 515.

Are there some high end restaurants in the area?

Yes - Black Sheep, Toccoa River Resaurant, Harvest on Main and Emily's Restaurant (in Ellijay).

Will a boat or large trailer fit in the driveway?

Yes it will at both cabins.

What happens if the power goes out while I'm there?

I have a number of flashlights and large lanterns around the cabin. Note that the water may also go out (eventually), as electric runs the pumps on the mountain. This usually doesn't happen until the power has been out for 24 hours or more. Please let me know if this happens - there is an app that I can check for electric company repairs to keep you updated.

Do you get tornadoes or snow?

There are heavy winds with storms. Yes it does snow at times and the mountain is difficult to navigate when this happens. Please check the weather prior to your arrival and let me know if you have any questions or concerns. However, it's absolutely beautiful and so peaceful when it does snow!

Is there a lot of shopping close by?

Yes! Everything from pottery to art to clothing to home decor to local crafts - you will find it in a store on Main St in downtown Blue Ridge, Ellijay and McCaysville, TN. It's easy to walk all three downtown Main Streets in a day - just park on either end and walk both sides of the streets.

Are there grocery stores nearby?

Yes! There is an Ingles and a Kroger on your way up from Atlanta in both East Ellijay and Ellijay. There is a Walmart and an Ingles in downtown Blue Ridge. There are also a few health food stores- Blend Organic Market, Right Choice Organics, and Wild Flowers Health Foods.
